Biographical history
John Elliott was born in Ireland in January 1864. He arrived in Canada in 1880 and worked as a bank clerk. By 1911 he was the manager of the Standard Bank in Belleville, Ontario, living at 58 Commercial Street (later named Highland Avenue). He was active in the community, serving as president of the Board of Trade and chair of the Board of Education. He died in 1933.
