Copy of a Map of the Province of New York and Jersey

A reproduction of "A New & Accurate Map of the Province of New York and Part of the Jerseys, New England and Canada. Showing the Scenes of our Military Operations during the Prejant War- Also the New Erected State of Vermont." Originally published by J. Bow on October 31, 1780. Date of reproduction is unknown.

1885 Northwest Rebellion Campaign: list of “A” & “H” Company Belleville Veterans

File contains a photocopied typescript letter from Chas. S. Clapp to Lt. Col. William Nisbet Ponton dated October 29, 1914 concerning the A. and H Companies of the Midland Battalion at Batoche during the Northwest Rebellion of 1885. Also present is a photocopied typescript list of veterans from the two companies who served during the Rebellion.

World War I : posters

File contains several printed posters instructing soldiers on proper conduct of marching and receiving orders. Also contains two printed booklets : How Goes the War, concerning the causes and conduct of World War I, and a printed essay entitled “War: Unnecessary and UnChristian,” by Augustine Jones, Boston: The American Peace Society, 1895.

Northwest Rebellion : story of Batoche, 1885

File contains several photocopied photographs of artifacts relating to the 1885 Rebellion, including an image of a bandolier, hat and pouch carried by Private Jesse Wm. Barlow, Belleville, of the Midland Battalion. Also contains an offprint of an article entitled “The Campaign of 1885 : A Contemporary Account,” by G.F.G. Stanley, which appeared in Saskatchewan History, Vol XIII, no.3 (Autumn, 1960). Also present are several newspaper clippings containing reprints of contemporary accounts by members of the Midland and Argyll Battalions who served during the Rebellion.

1885 Rebellion : Letters from Cr. Sgt. Wrighton 1885

.File contains several newspaper clippings in which eyewitness accounts of the 1885 Northwest Rebellion by Colour Sergeant William Thomas Wrighton, Belleville, of the Midland Battalion, are reproduced. Also present is a photocopied offprint of an article from Saskatchewan History, Vol X111, no.3 (Autumn, 1960), entitled “The Campaign of 1885: A Contemporary Account,” by G.F.G. Stanley. The article is based in part upon the letters of William Thomas Wrighton. Also contains a photocopied typescript memoir by William Hubbard ca. 1914 recounting his participation in the Riel Rebellion in 1870
