Webster, Frederick Theodore, O.L.S.

Fred Webster was born on September 19, 1892, at York, Ontario, to parents Fred F. Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Cobb. Throughout his career he was employed as an Ontario Land Surveyor.
He married his wife, Emily Lala Alford, on September 3, 1919, at Carleton, Ontario and died on August 14, 1962.

Watson, Walter Irvine, O.L.S.

Walter Irvine Watson was born in 1929 to parents William and Nellie Watson. He was authorized in 1960 by the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors. He later purchased the notes and records of John T. Ransom, an Ontario Land Surveyor, who had surveyed southern Hastings County since 1948. He soon founded Watson Land Surveyors Ltd., a surveying firm in Belleville, Ontario. He worked on developing the east end of Belleville, the 401, the Quinte Mall, the Sears Warehouse, and subdivision development north of the 401. He died on March 2nd, 2008, at Belleville, Ontario, in his 79th year.

William Wallbridge was born on July 13, 1825 to parents Asa Wallbridge and Hannah Every, in Clarke Township, Durham County, Ontario. He received his land surveying license, in Ontario, on January 8, 1853. He died of scarlet fever on February 3, 1863.

William's grandfather was the local pioneer Elijah Wallbridge.

Leighton Adelbert van Skiver was born on December 4, 1874 at Sophiasburgh, Prince Edward County, Ontario, to Dutch parents John van Skiver and Elizabeth Way van Skiver. He married Eleanor Francis Jones on March 12, 1919 at York, Ontario. They had two children - George Leighton and Lois Lorraine. Throughout his career he worked as an Ontario Land Surveyor. He died on March 27, 1949 at the age of 74.

Steele, Gerald (Jerry) Francis, O.L.S.

Jerry Steele was born in London, Ontario, on September 13, 1929. He was a veteran of the Korean War and had a career as an Ontario Land Surveyor. His wife was Micheline Juliette Alarie. They had four children. Jerry died on September 30th, 2003, at the age of 74, in St. Catharines, Ontario.

Campbell Taylor Smith was born on July 13, 1890 in Sarnia, Lambton County, Ontario, to parents Thomas T. Smith and Mary McBride. Throughout his career he worked as a civil engineer and as an Ontario Land Surveyor. He married Verna Lucetta Hetherington (a school teacher) on June 29, 1925 at St. Catharines, Ontario. He died on 8 March 1972.

George Simpson was born on October 11, 1842, to parents Hilda Platt and Benjamin Simpson, at Hallowell, Prince Edward, Ontario. He officially registered as a Provincial Land Surveyor on October 7, 1864, and relocated to Belleville, Ontario. In 1873, he married Emma Ross of Picton, Ontario. He died on January 8, 1905 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

John Henry Shaw was born in August of 1867, to parents Daniel and Jane, at Westmeath in Renfrew County, Ontario. He became licensed as an Ontario Land Surveyor and in 1900 he married Elizabeth Ann in Carleton County, Ontario. Throughout his career he worked for the provincial government surveying townships in Ontario and CNR lines.He died on May 12, 1922, at North Bay, Ontario, due to a case of chronic nephritis.

Charles Shaw was born on November 11, 1854, to parents Margaret and Alexander, at Oak Hill, Toronto, Ontario. He married Ida Laura Cathlene Jones, at Trenton, Ontario, on March 14, 1883. They soon relocated to Wellington, Prince Edward, Ontario. Throughout his career, Charles worked as a Provincial Land Surveyor and as a Civil Engineer, with private and government firms. After relocating again, this time to British Columbia, he was employed as a Captain of a prisoner of war camp. He died on May 9, 1942 at Saanich, British Columbia.

Harry Richards was born in 1898 to parents George Richards Sr. and Kate Price. He was baptized on July 8, 1898 at Rolleston, Stafford, England. By 1913, the family had immigrated to Canada, where Harry trained and worked as an Ontario Land Surveyor. He married his wife, Gertrude Mae Montgomery, on July 15, 1925, at Brantford, Ontario. He died in 1966.

Thomas S. Ransom was a Provincial Land Surveyor who was active in the Hastings County area during the 1960s. His father, John Thomas Ransom, was also a provincial surveyor in the area.

John Thomas Ransom was born on August 25, 1889, to parents Giles Sanders Ransom and Margaret Wilson at York, Ontario. He married Lottie Ruth Long on March 19, 1912, at York, Ontario. He was a Provincial Land Surveyor active in Hastings County from the 1940s-1960s. His son, Thomas S. Ransom was also a surveyor in the local area. John Ransom died on October 13, 1962.

Ponton, Archibald William, P.L.S. & D.L.S.

Archibald was born on January 25, 1859 to parents Archibald Sr. and Mary Frances Patterson, at Belleville, Hastings, Ontario. He trained as a land surveyor under Thomas Bolger, P.L.S., and then moved west in 1879 as assistant land surveyor to Bolger. Throughout his career, Archibald was active in Regina and Northwest Territories as a Dominion Land Surveyor and as an architect. He died at Edmonton, Alberta, on 20 January 1915. He was a cousin of Lt. Col. W.N. Ponton.
